Abstract

Budget is one of the methods in financial planning, which is being used to achieve an organized, effective and professional financial decision. Personal budget is a set of individual financial planning which focuses on the aspects of management and financial control, determining the goal for future savings and at the same time making the goal a reality. This project focuses on evaluating the existing system especially the web-based system. On top of that, a survey was conducted among the government staff to identify the cause and problems in terms of preparation and
implementation of personal budget. Based on the survey, models for the preparation of the Personal Budget was constructed and a Decision Support System (DSS) built
during the process of preparing a personal budget, which is flexible and suitable to Malaysian scenario. This system would be able to help users to prepare a set of
practical personal budget. It would be able to identify whether the budget and the actual expenses of a particular user matches with the user’s income and their priorities. In addition, the main advantage of this system is its capability in analyzing the budgeted expenses, actual expenses and suggested expenses.
