Abstract
This research is undertaken to identify the relation between quality leadership of secondary school principals and teaching quality. The quality leadership criteria under investigation that might affect the teachers’ teaching quality covered several aspects namely management, teamwork, communication and continuous improvements.
A total of 360 questionnaires were distributed to the secondary school teachers in the whole state of Perlis. 328 questionnaires were returned from 91% of the respondent.
The data obtained were analysed by using descriptive statistics. Analysis was done by using the SPSS Windows version 6.0. The reliability of the instrument was
measured by using the Cronbach Alpha. Correlation was used to identify the relationship between principals leadership quality and the teaching quality among the school teachers.
The overall finding indicates that moderate principal leadership quality has moderate influence towards the teachers’ teaching quality. Among the 20 secondary
schools, 4 of them show high quality teaching as a result of strong leadership quality of the school principals. Continuous improvement seems to have prominent effect
towards teaching quality.
