Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of management to build up a condusive hostel atmosphere. The objectives of the research are to identify effective management practises and the relation with condusive hostel atmosphere in term of physical management facilities, beautification and cleanliness, staft
and services, rules and safety, and management of activities, and to identify which aspects of the management that have significant influence towards condusive hostel atmosphere. A total of 71 hostel
leaders and wardens of secondary schools in the District of Kuala Muda/Yan Kedah, were respondent of this research. The results of statistic analysis and hypotheses testing using Pearson correlation show that five aspects of management being tested, were in the stage of effective and positive relation with condusive hostel atmosphere.
However the results of the hypotheses testing using multiple regression show that only management of activities, management of beautification and cleanliness, and management of rules and safety were significant influence towards condusive hostel atmosphere.
