A total of 236 valid responses was subjected for further analyses in the study. Public sector officers at Public Works Department Kedah were found to be moderately involved in their job. There were significant differences in the level of job involvement among public sector officers in this department classified according to: (1) gender; (2) ten different locations; (3) four different groups of service; and (4) six different levels of educational attainment. The work outcome and situational characteristics variables were found to explain a larger portion of the variance in job involvement than do demographic variables. In general, variables such as perception toward supervisor, job
characteristics, role conflict, organizational commitment, job satisfaction and job burnout were found to be related to the level of job involvement. The study as a whole supports existing theories, models and research findings
on job involvement. It also contributed significantly to the understanding of job involvement concepts.
