Abstract

The problem of delinquency among adolescent is getting worse, as well as become an issues that are often discussed from time to time to find solutions to deal with these problems effectively. Therefore, intervention strategies are important to change the behavior among adolescent delinquents. This study examines the effect of the Family Therapeutic Consultation Module on family functioning and spiritual intelligence among adolescent delinquents. This module used the Solution Focused Brief Therapy approach and Family Structural Therapy in order to increase positive behavior among adolescent delinquents. This study used an experimental quasi design conducted at the Department of Social Welfare District of Kota Bharu, Kuala Krai, Machang. Pasir Mas, and Bachok. Forty respondents were chosen using purposive sampling. Two measuring tools were used as the Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI 24). Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests through SPSS. The results showed that the treatment group had high scores for family functioning and spiritual intelligence after receiving intervention of the Therapeutic Consultation Module compared to the control group. Family Therapeutic Consultation Module that had been conducted revealed a positive impact on improving the level of family functioning and spiritual intelligence among adolescent delinquents. This study contributes to the consistent positive behavior change among adolescent delinquents.
