Abstract

This study was undertaken to examine the acceptance level and application of the information technology among the secondary school teachers in Seberang Perai, Pulau Pinang. The objectives of this study are to investigate; a) the
relationships between the teachers' attitude with the acceptance level and application of the information technology, b) the relationships between the teachers' skill with the acceptance level and application of the information technology, c) the relationships between the teachers' training with the acceptance level and application of the information technology, d) the relationships between school administration with the acceptance level and application of the information technology, and e) the differences of the acceptance level and application of information technology among the teachers based on their characteristics.
A total of 335 respondents from 31 secondary schools participated in this study. A set of questionnaire containing 40 items using five-points Likert-type
scale was applied to measure the teachers' responses toward dependent and independent variables. Twelve hypotheses were constructed for ths study. Statistical tools such as using Pearson correlation, t-Test, Analysis of Variance and Multiple Regression were used to test these hypotheses.
The result reveals that a) there are significant relationships between teachers' attitude, b) there are significant relationships between teachers' skill c) there
are significant relationships between teachers' training, d) no significant relationships between school administration, and e) there is no significant difference in acceptance level and application of information technology among teachers based on personal characteristics, that is gender, ages, academic
qualification, job tenure and monthly income except job position. This finding can be used as a benchmark for information technology programme among teachers.
