Abstract

The efficiency of higher education institutions performance always been discussed especially on their lecturers and graduates. Until now, there are no specific methods used to measure the efficiency of higher education institution performance in Malaysia. In this research, Data Envelopment Analysis using CCR model is recommended as a method in measuring the efficiency of the higher education institution. A set of data which consist of nine schools of Universiti Utara Malaysia are used in this method. The measuretnent of efficiency involved one source of input and six output which are produced. From the method, the efficient or inefficient schools whch has used the input in order to produce the output can be identified. Subsequent to that, the target for input and output for inefficient schools can be determined by using a set of reference. The main reason in using target is to assist the management of the university in improving their efficiency score on its inefficient school.
