Abstract

This thesis comprise study of manpower productivity in coal transportation from Tanjung Enim (South Sumatra) to Suralaya (Banten, West Java).
Manpower productivity is not only an important asset to a company, but also forms an important companies especially transportation companies carrying coal from Kalimantan as well as from Sumatra coal mines to customers should pay attention to manpower productivity.
It is known in this study that there are correlations between manpower productivity as an independent variable (Y) with order dependent variables (X) like (1) Education and Training (2) Technology (3) Motivation (4) Health and Nutrient (5) Salary and Wages.
This research is based on a data analysis from 50 respondents especially refer to crew members of the long coal train of combination (Babaranjang) carrying coal from Tanjung Enim to Tarahan and crew of coal vessels sailing from Tarahan to Suralaya Coal Fired Plant (PLTU). Six types of instruments were used in data collecting which have been tested in advance through 25 respondens which
resulting validity and reliability results.
Base on this study some results indicating that there are :
(1) Positive and significant correlating between independent variable education and training and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 5.08; coeficient determination = 25.8%. t calculations value (4.081) > t table value (1.678) and regression equation = Y = 2.960 + 0.660 X1
(2) Positive and significant correlations between independent variable technology and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 0,456; coeficient determination = 20.8%; t calculated value (3.548) > t table value (1.678) and regression equation = Y = 1.729 + 0.725 X2
(3) Positive and significant correlations between independent variable motivation and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 0,614; coeficient determination = 37.7%; t calculation value (5.348) > t table value (1.678) and regression equation = Y = -0.042 + 0.698 X3
(4) Positive and significant correlations between independent variable health and nutrient and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 0,319; coeficient determination = 10.2%; t calculated value (2.331) > t table value (1.678) and regression equation = Y = 12.006 + 0.310 X4
(5) Positive and significant correlations between independent variable salary and wages and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 0,456; coefficient determination = 17.%; t calculated value (3.139) > (1.678) and regression equation = Y = 10.830 +
0.343 X5
(6) Positive and significant correlations between independent variable education and training, technology, health and nutrient, salary and wages simultaneously and dependent variable manpower productivity with a correlation value of 0.719; coeficient determination = 51.7%; F calculated value (9.438) > F table value (2.43) and regression equation = Y = 11.543 + 0.349 X1 + 0.180 X2 + 0.428 X3 + 0.159 X4 + 0.093 X5
The implication of the result study will provide benefit and utility in improving manpower productivity of coal transportation in general as well special refer advance study as far this topic is concerned coals use other variables among others (1) Effectiveness and efficiency (2) Employees performance (3) Leadership (4) Ability (5) Corporate culture.
