Abstract

Safety management practices play an important role in minimizing accident rates in the workplace through implementations of new and better solutions to prepare both employers and employees to have positive mindset and also improve the workplace conditions towards safety and health. This study is between safety management practices and safety awareness in Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Line 2 under MMC Gamuda. A self-administrated questionnaire has been applied among among 200 employees in MMC Gamuda. The findings of this study revealed that all elements in safety management practices have significant correlation with safety knowledge. Meanwhile, among elements that have significant relationship between safety management practices and safety motivation are management commitment, safety training, safety training, workers involvement, safety communication and feedback and safety rules and procedures. Safety promotion policies were identified as not significant with safety motivation. The overall findings provide valuables guidance for researchers and practitioners for identifying solutions that can improve safety and health at workplace.
