Abstract

Gading Kasturi Sdn Bhd (GKSB) is a leading aviation company that prioritizes a safe working environment. This case study investigates how factors such as personnel experience, training, assessment, and workspace design influence the personnel safety awareness of its employees. Experienced personnel have an intuitive understanding of potential hazards and best safety practices, enabling them to anticipate and respond proactively. They mentor less experienced colleagues, fostering a safety culture through shared knowledge. GKSB provides comprehensive training programs to ensure employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks safely. Regular updates keep personnel updated on safety standards, improving their ability to identify hazards and respond appropriately. Continuous assessment is crucial for maintaining high safety standards, as it ensures compliance with protocols, identifies areas for improvement, reinforces safety practices, and keeps maintenance personnel vigilant. The design of the workspace also plays a significant role in raising safety awareness. A well-designed workspace reduces potential hazards and promotes safe working practices. Ergonomic considerations, clear signage, and proper equipment are necessary for a safe workplace. By integrating these critical success factors, the organization fosters a safe culture that reduces risks and ensures employee well-being. Continuous improvement in these areas is critical to maintaining high safety standards and protecting personnel in high-risk situations.
