Abstract

North Penang, Malaysia, is renowned as a premier hub for medical device manufacturing in Asia, where employee performance plays a pivotal role in maintaining competitiveness and achieving long-term success in the industry. Employee performance is shaped by several factors, including the working environment, leadership style, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. This study aims to explore the impact of the working environment, leadership style, and job satisfaction on employee performance, with organizational commitment serving as a mediating factor. The study adopts a quantitative approach, surveying 458 respondents selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a survey method via Google Forms and analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28. The results demonstrate that the working environment, leadership style, and job satisfaction significantly enhance employee performance. Furthermore, it was found that organizational commitment mediates the relationship between these independent variables and employee performance. The findings offer valuable insights for management in formulating strategies to boost employee performance and create a positive working environment conducive to high employee productivity. Effective leadership is essential for fostering employee growth and performance. Additionally, the study suggests that strong organizational commitment greatly enhances employee performance. Given the rapid growth of the medical device manufacturing industry, this research provides crucial insights for employees, management, scholars, and practitioners on the importance of the working environment, job satisfaction, leadership, and organizational commitment in driving employee performance
