Abstract

Work-life balance has become an increasingly important issue in the modem workplace, with organizations recognizing the need to provide flexible working arrangements and supportive workplace cultures. Work-life balance poses challenges for employees in various contexts. The demands of flexible working hours, work pressure, and workplace culture make it difficult for employees to balance work and family life. Work-life imbalance negatively affects employee performance. Consequently, the research was aimed at examining the relationship between flexible working hours, work pressure, workplace culture, and employee job performance among staff in Sime Darby Property Berhad. This study aims to examine the relationship between work-life balance and employee job performance among the employees at Sime Darby Property Berhad. The study specifically examines the effects of flexible working hours, work pressure, and workplace culture on employee productivity. The research intends to analyze these elements to offer valuable insights that might inform the creation of initiatives that promote a harmonious integration of personal life and work. The goal of these initiatives is to improve employee satisfaction and productivity by lowering employee turnover, stress, and burnout. Furthermore, the study aims to act as a prototype for other companies in comparable sectors, demonstrating successful tactics for fostering work-life balance to improve employee efficiency and establish supportive work environments. In this study, a survey design that incorporated the quantitative method and cross-sectional study among the employees of Sime Darby Property Berhad was employed. Using the convenience sampling method, a total of 155 respondents were selected. Data were analyzed using IBM-SPSS and SmartPLS version 4.0 software. The results show that flexible working hours and work pressure were found to have a significant direct relationship with employee performance. Workplace culture had no direct relationship with employee performance. The research has proven that flexible working hours and work pressure have a significant and positive relationship with employee performance. However, the relationship between workplace culture and employee performance is not supported. As an overall conclusion, this study has successfully achieved all the research objectives. The findings could be used to guide the management of Sime Darby Property Berhad in Malaysia to focus on the interrelationship among the constructs, variables, and values to improve the performance of their employees.
