Abstract

Takaful is one of the insurance industries that shows increasing demand from year to year. Takaful industry started its operation in 1984, and until 2024 the Takaful industry in Malaysia is listed as the third best Takaful industry in the world. While Takaful and conventional insurance differ in contractual terms, their shared objective is to preserve participants and alleviate their financial problems during challenging circumstances or accidents. Consequently, it is important to assess the level of acceptance and consumer knowledge of Takaful, particularly within the Malaysian community, especially Muslims. Despite this, the number of participants opting for Takaful remains comparatively low among the community. Therefore, this study identified the key factors that influence the intention of employees at Lembaga zakat negeri Kedah to subscribe takaful. The study employs quantitative research design through online questionnaire to employees from Lembaga zakat negeri Kedah. The total number of respondents answering this questionnaire is 108 respondents and their answers were analyzed using SPSS version 29. All hypotheses in this study are tested using Pearson Correlation Analysis, multiple regression analysis, One-way ANOVA and T-test analysis. The result shows that social influence, financial literacy, Awareness & knowledge, and perceived Benefit have a significant and positive relationship to employees to subscribe Takaful. It hoped that the results obtained from this study would help to develop the Takaful Industry in Malaysia.
