Abstract
The research investigates how worker participation alongside safety messaging and training affects adherence to safety protocols in Malaysia’s manufacturing industry. Although the safety guidelines of OSHA 1994 exist, workplace accidents continue to occur widely especially in Penang. The research findings focus on enhancing safety practices within manufacturing establishments and reducing injury rates while promoting both safety and productivity. This study have incorporated a cross-sectional approach, gathering data from 290 workers in Pulau Pinang through structured questionnaires and a simple random sampling technique. Data analysis using SPSS included descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression analysis, aiming to identify factors influencing safety compliance and improve safety practices in manufacturing. The study results assessing workplace safety compliance including the descriptive statistics show moderate safety training levels alongside strong correlations between safety communication and worker involvement with safety compliance. According to regression analysis results safety communication (β = 0.495) and worker involvement (β = 0.322) positively influence safety compliance while safety training ( =0.086) shows a weaker and insignificantly affects compliance. The study results show that good safety communication and worker involvement are crucial for improving workplace safety.
