Abstract

Job performance among police officers has become a growing concern due to increasing occupational demands and rising stress levels. The influence of workload, compensation and benefits on job performance in Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) in Kuala Lumpur. Specifically, it explores how these factors influence job performance and overall effectiveness in a high-pressure work environment. A quantitative research design was employed, using structured questionnaires distributed to police officers in Kuala Lumpur to gather data on their perceptions and experiences. The data was analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), incorporating correlation and regression techniques to determine the strength and nature of the relationships between variables. The results reveal that heavy workload, inadequate compensation, limited benefits significantly affect job performance. Financial stress and overwork were found to contribute to burnout, lower morale, and higher turnover intentions among junior officers. The findings underscore the importance of comprehensive human resource strategies that include equitable pay, manageable workloads and supportive work environments. Future studies could extend this research by examining other contributing factors such as leadership style or organizational culture in similar high-stress professions.
