Abstract

Safety commitment and safety motivation play a crucial role for safety culture development. This study aims to investigate the role of safety motivation as a mediator in the relationship between safety commitment and safe behavior in the workplace. A questionnaires was applied for data collection involve 175 respondents among HSAH support staff, Sungai Petani, Kedah. The raw data was analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Science version 22 which involved descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Correlation analysis shows that safety commitment and safety motivation have a positive relationship with safety behavior. Furthermore, the hierarchy regression analysis reveal that safety motivation plays as a mediator in relationship between safety commitment and safety behaviour at the workplace. Thus, employers should take into account the elements of safety motivation in implementing safety training and accident prevention programs in the workplace to improve the safety behaviour.
