Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of occupational safety awareness at the workplace. Research sample in this study is a group of workers in the Army Ammunition Depot. Army Ammunition Depot is responsible to received, stored, maintained and issued an ammunition and explosive stock to all Army units and also to Navy and Air Force for common used item of ammunition and explosive. Ammunition depot was selected to be research centre because their workers are exposed to high degree of fire and explosion hazards. 150 respondents were involved in this study and questionnaire was used as the main instrument for obtaining data. Hence, the data is being analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 14.0. In order to gain a better understanding the perspective of the occupational safety awareness at workplace, four variables was chose namely attitude, knowledge and equipment as independent drivers and demographic aspect as intervening factor and occupational safety awareness as
dependent variable. Through statistical analysis, the result shows that the workers in the Army Ammunition Depot had a very high level of occupational safety awareness. The
study also found that there is a significant relationship between the variables and knowledge is the most independent variable driving the occupational safety awareness at Army Ammunition Depot.
