Abstract
This study aims to compare the differences in academic self-concept of Mathematics and Malay language between boys and girls. In addition, this study aims to identify differences in academic self-concept of Mathematics and the Malay language of Malay students with Chinese students. Researchers also identified a significant relationship between academic self-concept of Mathematics with the Malay language among students in secondary schools. A total of 11 5 out of 1056 students from four randomly selected from five secondary schools in the ordinary course the district. Selfmeasurement tool-Description Questionnaire II (SDQ-II) developed by Marsh (1992) based on Shavelson hierarchical model (1976) was used to measure students' academic self-concept of Mathematics and Malay language. Differences between academic selfconcept of Mathematics and the Malay language based on gender and race were tested using independent sample t-test. The result of the analysis showed that girls are higher than boys in academic self-concept of Mathematics and the Malay language. Study also found no significant difference in academic self-concept of Mathematics for Malay students with Chinese students. The study found that academic self-concept of Mathematics has a negative correlation which is not statistically significant, r = -.03, p>.05 with academic self-concept of the Malay language. From the results of this study, concluded that girls are higher than boys in Mathematics and h4alay language academic self-concept. Both self-concept have a negative correlation and not significant. Therefore, this study supports the general results that state girls' academic self-concept is higher in language than boys, and other states rejected the results of male students in academic self-concept in Mathematics was higher than female students. The study also rejected the results of other studies that academic self-concept of Mathematics and the Malay language have a positive relationship
