Abstract

Students that going to be the most important assets in year 2020 need to have knowledge and experience in science and technology. To achieve this mission, changes have to be done in our education system whereby our education system need have such choices such as technical school
(SMT). This research will try to analyse interest and career aspiration factors and it relationship towards choosing SMT. The most important objective of this research is to see the relationship between interest,
career aspiration and the student background in choosing SMT. This research is being done on 200 form four SMT’s students in Kelantan by using questionnaires. Descriptive statistical method whereby mean, median, score and standard deviation, are being used to analyse the
distribution of variable score of this research, To test the hypothesis, Correlation Pearson Test is being used and Multiple Regression are being used to determine the independent variables that influence the student to choose SMT. The result from the research shows that there is
significant relation between interest, career aspiration, sex, location of residence, parents education and family income towards SMT choice. Multiple Regression result shows the independent variable influence 99.05
percent towards the SMT choice and interest factor is the most important variable. The researcher hope that this research will give more information for the Ministry of Education, State Education Department and schools to
plan their programme and activities for the student to choose SMT.
