Abstract
The Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM 2013-2025) focuses on the teachers’ role as guides in PAK21 to reform the Qiraat curriculum for KKQ teachers. Knowledge, skills, motivation and attitude are pivotal in determining the PAK21 effectiveness. However, the Qiraat T&L implementation still faces various issues due to the lack of KKQ expert teachers and continuous training thus influencing PAK21 implementation. This study aims to review and identify the Qiraat teaching practices and produce a model of Qiraat teaching practices based on PAK21. Additionally, attitudes as mediators between knowledge, skills and motivation with PAK21 were also studied. This quantitative study used a survey design involving 375 randomly selected stratified respondents consisting of KKQ teachers in Malaysia. The data for this study were collected through a questionnaire and underwent a validity and reliability process. The study data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 and SmartPLS 4 software. The findings showed that motivation and attitude were at a high level, then skills, PAK21 and knowledge. The inferential findings showed no significant differences in terms of knowledge, skills, motivation, attitude and PAK21 based on gender and school location while showing a significant difference based on teaching experience. Pearson correlation showed a significant relationship between knowledge, skills, motivation and attitude with PAK21. SmartPLS showed attitude acted as a mediator between knowledge and skills with PAK21. This study also produced a Qiraat Teaching Practice Model and can be used as a guide in the Qiraat teaching process. In conclusion, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the KKQ teachers’ teaching practices in Malaysia and emphasizes the importance of implementing PAK21 to strengthen the Qiraat teaching in line with current educational needs. This study also contributes to improving the KKQ teaching quality in line with current educational aspirations.
