This research which was carried out in Sungai Petani Industrial Estate, Kedah, wishes to study the perception of respondents with regard to the factors that influence the training effectiveness and its relationship with training effectiveness. The questionnaire used in this research consists of 3 main parts. The first part which is
regarding the respondent demography contains 9 questions. Questionnaire regarding independent variables dimension such as the trainers, managerial support, training
curriculum, attitudes of the trainees, training techniques and training materials consists of 46 questions, where as training effectiveness dimensions consist of 6 questions. The questions developed were based on reaction and learning level as suggested by Kirkpatrick’s model (1987).
Analysis on data obtained from 109 respondents showed that the level of training effectiveness is high. Analysis also showed that there is a positive and significant
relationship between training effectiveness and the training factors such as training techniques, training materials and managerial support. However factors such as
training curriculum, trainers and attitudes of the trainees did not show a significant relationship with training effectiveness. Based on these findings, the researcher suggests that various administrative levels
within the Ministry levels, Polytechnic as well as the private firms to give serious attention to problems relating to the training effectiveness. The training programmes to be conducted should be well planned in order to achieve training effectiveness.
