Abstract

Women in Malaysia play an important role in contributing to the country’s economic development in business. However, they are not only contribute in economic growth but also able create their own businesses and job opportunities to the society instead of guarantees their brighter future with the support and business opportunities of certain parties. This study aimed to explore business performance of women entrepreneurs in Perlis. Accordingly, researcher has put forward three variables namely access to credit, training and social capital as variables that influenced business performance of women entrepreneurs in Perlis. Data was collected using the questionnaire distributed to 217 women entrepreneurs under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) but 113 usable data were gathered. This survey was analyzed via Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0. The multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine the influence of three variables towards business performance of women entrepreneurs. The finding showed that social capital factor has positive influence on women entrepreneur business performance. However, it indicated access to credit and training factors have no significance influence to the women entrepreneurs business performance. The study further contributes to the existing body of knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship where similar studies are generally scarce. Finally, study limitations and suggestions for the women entrepreneurs and future research are provided and discussed.
