Abstract

Islamic estate planning is one of the major important things in managing Muslims property. The glory of Islam itself has provided several instruments (faraid, hibah, wassiyah and waqf) in Islamic estate planning. Protection of property is one of the five important things in Maqasid Syariah in Islam. It is argued that the issue related to unclaimed asset, family conflict, lack of knowledge and bureaucracy problem raised among Muslims society is due to improper planning. Hence, the objective of this research is to identify Muslims choice in estate management planning and determine which factors are influencing the Islamic estate planning. The quantitative method
was employed to meet the objective of this research. Thus, around 300 respondents among Muslims in Alor Setar, Kedah were selected to answer the questionnaire of this research study. Muslims in Kedah are planning to adopt estate management tool and to adopt wasiyyah as their main instrument in estate planning. The results show that variable in monthly income, religiosity, knowledge and advantage are the significant influencing Muslims to plan their estate. Thus, this research will provide some policy recommendation and of the solutions to the problems exist in estate management.
