Abstract

Tuan Guru Dato' Dr. Haron bin Din is an Islamic treatment practitioner icon who is charismatic and highly respected for his success in upholding the Islamic treatment in Malaysia. However, there remain confusion among the public in distinguishing between modern Islamic and traditional Malay medicine; there are also a number of practitioners who charge excessive fees or offerings as a condition in their treatment
methods and there are several people who easily believe in the greatness of alternative medicine. This study seeks to answer questions related to the history and involvement of figures, the form of medical knowledge and treatment methods practiced and his contribution in the field of Islamic medical knowledge in Malaysia. This study aims to examine the involvement history, examine the knowledge and methods of treatment practiced and document Tuan Guru’s contribution, specifically in the field of medical books writing and his contribution that has produced many practicing graduates. This study employed structured interview methods to obtain personal information of the
figures and semi-structured interview was conducted on 10 respondents selected among family members, students, practitioners and 20 respondents among patients. In addition,
content analysis was also conducted to analyze data from material sources obtained from interviews and library studies. The results of the study found that his greatest contribution is the knowledge and methods of Islamic treatment that he practices based on the verses of the Quran, prayers and treatment materials as a way of preaching to the community, in establishing the Darussyifa' Islamic Treatment Center, published a total of 25 Islamic medical books and produced more than 8000 Islamic treatment practitioners with degrees under the supervision of the Malaysian Darussyifa' Islamic
