Abstract

This study examines the trends of the digital zakat payment on SOCSO employees. It also investigates the influence of perceived usefulness and trust on digital zakat payment awareness among 251 respondents. The results show that majority of SOCSO employees have a high tendency to pay zakat but not for the lower-level staff. This is due to their incomes, which are not meet the requirement of nisab. The influences of perceived behavior and trust also show a positive and significant relationship with digital zakat awareness. To increase the number of digital payment users, Zakat institutions should aggressively promote and market digital payments on various platforms, especially social media. Besides, they should emphasized on the security of payers to ensure that users are always protected from cybercrimes.
